{"id":16918,"date":"2025-09-11T16:33:56","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T20:33:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/audreymarcotte.ca\/audit-ux-premiere-etape-pour-ameliorer-utilisabilite\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T11:21:05","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T15:21:05","slug":"ux-audit-first-step-to-improve-saas-usability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/audreymarcotte.ca\/en\/ux-audit-first-step-to-improve-saas-usability\/","title":{"rendered":"The UX Audit: The First Step to Improve Your SaaS Usability"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past few months, I\u2019ve met with 3\u20134 Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) who all shared the same reality: they had built a functional product \u2014 often a very good one! \u2014 but they kept receiving feedback from clients and prospects about their user interfaces and user experience (UX), especially usability:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Too busy, too convoluted.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Too much text, or the text is too small.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;The workflow is hard to understand.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">User Experience (UX) Was Already on Their Radar, but&#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During our discussions, I quickly realized that these CTOs already knew the value of UX. But for many reasons, they hesitated to start a full UX research project (and I don\u2019t blame them):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tight timelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Already busy reviewing their team\u2019s work and promised functional improvements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Budgets that prioritize development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And so on\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In short: the train was already moving \u2014 and moving fast. They knew they needed UX help, but not something heavy or time-consuming. They also wanted to align their development team in the same direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enter the UX Audit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exactly where I propose a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/audreymarcotte.ca\/en\/user-experience-ux\/test-improve-client-experience\/ergonomic-ux-and-quality-control-audits\/\">UX Audit<\/a><\/strong>. Developers love it because it\u2019s visual, concrete, and doesn\u2019t require a PhD in Design Thinking. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personally, I often use <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/capian.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Capian<\/a><\/strong>, a smart tool created by friends of mine, to structure and deliver audits effectively. Of course, other tools can work as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Do a UX Audit?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For digital projects, the advantages are numerous:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Quick to deliver<\/strong>: generally 2 to 5 days, depending on scope and number of issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Practical for developers<\/strong>: when well done, developers can easily understand and apply the recommendations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pragmatic<\/strong>: you can collaborate with a UX expert for the audit, then decide on the next step afterwards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strategic<\/strong>: while a UX Audit doesn\u2019t replace in-depth UX research, it\u2019s an effective first step toward improving usability and the user interface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From &#8220;It\u2019s okay.&#8221; to &#8220;I love it!&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/audreymarcotte.ca\/en\/user-experience-ux\/test-improve-client-experience\/ergonomic-ux-and-quality-control-audits\/\">UX Audit<\/a> isn\u2019t the end of the journey. It doesn\u2019t replace full UX research or <a href=\"https:\/\/audreymarcotte.ca\/en\/user-experience-ux\/test-improve-client-experience\/user-tests\/\">usability testing<\/a> with real users. But it\u2019s a <strong>key step<\/strong> to improve user experience and transform a SaaS product (or any digital product) into a solution that\u2019s more enjoyable and effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To move from a good product to an excellent one, every step in the right direction matters.
